Dynamic Holography in Optical Materials Diagnostics

The paper is focused on dynamic holographic technique application to reversible nonlinear optical media diagnostics. This technique based on phase-modulated optical beams self-diffraction allows to obtain simultaneous on-line information about photoinduced refraction index and absorption variations. Potential materials for this method are photorefractive crystals, nanostructured inorganic materials, polymeric organic and bioorganic films, e. g. bacteriorhodopsin layers and nematic liquid crystals biostructured with DNA. It is shown that operation of the incident beams polarization gives an additional possibility to increase sensitivity of measurement. The application of phase-modulated beams technique for adaptive noise-protected vibrometers is also discussed.
